Well, here I am again using FreeBSD. In 4.5 I had kinda the same prob, but if I disabled the moused, I was all good. Now, here in 5.0 rc2, no luck what so ever.

What my mouse does, is it likes to move very very very very slow. Not fluidl-like at all, and I'm using a generic PS/2 wheel Mouse. So first thing I do is try every protocol for the daemon. No luck. So then I try running just with X. Still no luck. I tried, /dev/sysmouse, /dev/mouse, and /dev/psm0. None will work correctly.

The wierd this is, is that even if I get a config setup to get some response, it does the same thing w/ or w/o the daemon. I even looked around the web on this issue, and some were sayig that the XF86Config file was not getting written correctly from the sysinstall XFree86 utility.

That brings me to my next attempt. So I go into XF86Config, change the protocol to both "auto", and "Intellimouse" with devices "sysmouse (just hoping it would work, but knew in theory it wouldn't), mouse, and psm0. No luck what so ever. I really don't want to revert to 4.5 again, and DL'ing 4.7 doesn't sound like too much of a plan (I know I can do a FTP install, but I like to have the CD's for some odd reason. :P ). Anyone had this prob before :?:

Why don't you post your XF86Config then so we can have a look?

BTW - FTP installs really aren't so bad... unless of course you don't have high speed. My personal choice would be to stay clear of 5.0 for some time yet. Have a look here for more:

4.7 is a great release and well worth it. 4.8 out due out in March or so.

Well, this is what I did. I took one of my optical USB mice, and used it for the FreeBSD system. Everything works great!

BTW, I like 5.0 rc2 a lot. No problems at all. Only thing now is USER_LDT is not able to be set as "options" in the kernel. Rumor has it that it's built in.
