Hello,
I am trying to install VMware 4 on FreeBSD 5.0 I can get to installing but at the end it says "intall aborted Linux required". I was wondering if there was a doc helping me install it. Or maybe there is another way to install it.
Thank you for your time.

I was under the impression that VMware 2 was the last version that could be run on FreeBSD - do you have any urls indicating this is not the case?

there's been tons of discussions about vmware in the mailing lists lately.. from my understanding 2 is the best you can do so far..
seems bsd lovers could care less for windows..

Who said anything about windows? I want to run Open and Net on my FreeBSD servers!
Actually the only place i regularly use VMware is on linux to test out OpenBSD stuff. I have a dual PIII/linux on which i keep an older virtual machine running OpenBSD -stable of the last release (continually tracking cvs and building sets), another running -current, and one or two more to test out OpenBSD stuff. Sometimes i'll be running Solaris or other linuxes in other virtual machines too. I wish it was possible to run vmware from the command line and skip all the prompting i get, but their tech support tells me that's only possible with vmware server.

Of course you could always run windows then launch vmware, boot up OpenBSD and firewall your windows box with it.
I think actually frisco mentioned that somewhere on the board here at one time. I've never tried it but I've gotta soon put win2k on my laptop for work so since it already had OpenBSD on it maybe I'll try it then.
