In a totally unexpected windfall, I've been given some new hardware. Here's the profile:

MicroStar K7 Master mobo (v 1.1)
Athlon 1.1, 512MB RAM
Maxtor 40GB harddrive
Toshiba DVD-ROM
LG CED-8083B CD-RW
nVidia GeForce3/64MB VRAM
Audigy soundcard
KDS 19" monitor

I am awaiting my new set of 4.9 CDs in the mail. Should I expect any problems with this rig? I intend only to use this as a stand-alone desktop machine.

I can't see a problem with getting 4.9 installed on something like that, I've had similar rigs up and running before, I'd presume you will be fine... Generally more likely to have issues if it's raid/scsi I've found from my experience =P

getting the nvidia might take a trick or two, but its quite doable.

/me remembers fondly fragging in the daemon's name.

That will not be a problem at all. The Audigy might give you some trouble, but the rest will be fine. Make sure to tweak your kernel for Athlon support, and the NVidia should be a snap in 4.9,
