Hey guys,

Where would i get a free IP address that will work for someone to download off of Apache Server?? I tried http://www.whatsmyip.net and that didn't work. The person who was helping me set up Apache he tried the IP i got from that site and it didn't work. Thanx guys.

If you own some sort of router that sits between your cable/DSL modem and your machine, then you will need to forward port 80 from the outside interface to your machine to make your Apache server visible to the outside world.

I don't own a router and i'm on dial up. Is there still a way to forward it and how?? Thanx.

It's possible your ISP is not allowing connections to port 80 to try and stem the tide of IIS worms. Have you tried your luck with different ports?

most ISP's now if you dont have a buisiness class connection they block off port 80 and outbound 25 (other than their smtp servers) and even still most ISP's require a PTR record to allow sending though port 25.. but chances are 80 is blocked..

any why on gods green earth would you want a website on a modem?
