Hello everyone.

I need to put up a caching nameserver on my mailgateway box here at work. It is long overdue and I have finally 'bought' some time to get to it.

This is nothing fancy, just pure caching as well as RBL checks for the MTA and SpamAssassin.

Anyone have a certain piece of software they like to use for DNS caching? There is BIND and DJBDNS but thought i'd look at other ones as well.

I appreciate any suggestions.

Cheers,

T

dnsmasq is a nice quickie. Simple to drop-in and tiny config.

Another one i've been looking at is this one:

http://www.corpit.ru/mjt/rbldnsd.html

It is specifically geared towards using RBL's and such. Supposed to be very fast as well.
